Growing A Doomsday Garden
In uncertain times, you should think about growing a doomsday garden. With all the talk of wars and depressions, survival should be at the top of your list. Part of being prepared is knowing how to garden and having heirloom seeds that you know will grow when you need them to. If you have not yet learned, you should practice by planting your first garden now so that when the world turns upside down, you will know how to grow food for your family to survive.
Once we have the articles written on what to grow we will actually do some garden growing using the techniques we have written about. We will show some hydroponics, which is growing in water without soil. And Aquaponics which is using hydroponics with fish.
As of the writing of this page, it is October 10, 2023 and Israel is at war with Hamas. Russia is at war with Ukraine. There are many small conflicts going on. The USA is talking about more COVID lock downs. Times are a bit scary. We have to be prepared to take care of ourselves. Do you know how to garden? Do you know how much you will need to grow in order to feed your family? Do you know how to hide your garden in the open?

Hello! My name is David of David's Garden Seeds®. A few years ago I watched a show called, "Doomsday Preppers". There were many subjects talked about but little about gardening. And it is not just about gardening but about camouflaging your gardening so scavengers cannot steal your food.
We have to understand that if people know you have food, they will come for it. You have to be able to defend your garden or camouflage it. If you are going to defend it, you have to prepare ahead of time.
You have to practice with weapons like guns and bows. You will have to stock pile ammo for these if this is your method of defending your resources and family.
You have to mentally decide, ahead of time, if you can kill someone to protect your food and other resources.
And if you decide to kill, you will have to shoot to kill and not mane. Once they are down, you will want them to stay down.
As
I have learned from watching movies, once you get the bad guy down,
make sure he stays down. So often, they get the bad guy down but do not
finish him off.
We will talk about how to hide your garden, seeds and many other things. I have done the math and will tell you how much you need to grow to survive. My math is based on one vegetable for one person for one year eating a 1200 calorie meal a day. Hopefully you will have other things to eat.
You will want
to practice the rule of 3rds that I have come up with. 1/3 of your
seeds for planting, 1/3 for hiding and 1/3 for trading or emergencies.

You will want to get hard copies of any information you find useful since the electrical grid will probably be the first thing that goes in a doomsday scenario.
You will learn about using color in your vegetables. These would be colors that are not found in the grocery store. For instance yellow or purple green beans or carrots, yellow beets just to name a few.
People do not know that off-color vegetables have just as much nutrition, especially purple. But you do not find these in the store, so people think there is a problem with them.
Hopefully scavengers will think the same thing and by pass your garden. We will talk more about this later on.
We will talk about water sources. Most of these techniques will have to be put into practice long before there is a doomsday situation.
Windmill, catch system, hand pump are just a few techniques used to draw or save water.
Of course you will have to learn how to hide some of these or those without will come to take it away from you. Most experts say instead of trying to go it alone, you should be part of a community that is trained to protect itself.
You can survive, unless it is the book of Revelation taking place. But that is a whole different scenario and requires a whole different preparation.
